Monzodiorite : definition

Streckeisen diagrams (or QAPF diagrams) - Classification of plutonic and volcanic rocks
A monzodiorite is a plutonic rock intermediate between monzonite and diorite, equivalent to trachyandesite, also called syenodiorite. It is a grainy rock, usually dark in color, with plagioclases (oligoclase and andesine, representing 60% to 90% of the total feldspars), orthocalse, amphibole, biotite, titanite and various accessory minerals.

Monzodiorites are known in transition zones within large granite massifs.
