What is an antozonite fluorite ?

Antozonite : definition

Antozonite (sometimes written as anthozonite) is a variety of fluorite with a dark purple to black hue, containing free fluorine and giving off a strong odor of ozone when struck by a hammer. It is known exclusively in uranium veins. It seems to be a partially metamicte fluorite : the bombardments of particles emanating from uranium minerals release Ca2+ ions creating color centers, while fluorine reacts with the humidity of the air to form hydrofluoric acid and ozone.
